Dr. Yates completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and French at Converse College. After spending several years working in social work, she decided to pursue a nursing degree. She graduated from Georgia State University with an Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN). She spent several years in ICU, eventually becoming ICU Charge Nurse, then Unit Director. She eventually completed her BSN and MSN degrees. She presently works as Administrative House Supervisor for three Southern California hospitals and as Nursing Administrator at a large academic medical center in New York City. She also serves as an Expert Practice Consultant for the California Board of Nursing. She describes the Covid-19 pandemic as one of the most life-changing times of her career, having worked two major surges both in New York City and Los Angeles. She received the National Medal of Honor for Covid-19 First Responders for her work in educating the public about Covid vaccines and also received several commendations from state governors as well as local mayors and city councils. In 2023, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from Post University. Dr. Yates is a published nursing researcher and is currently Principal Investigator in a nationwide research study examining the mental wellbeing of our nation’s nurses. Dr. Yates serves on several advisory boards for nursing colleges in Southern California and is a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) as well as a Board-Certified Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC), and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. Outside of her nursing life, Dr. Yates is a successful real estate investor and a multistate landlord for both residential and commercial properties.
